Right now, in our home state of Pennsylvania, there are women facing unplanned pregnancies who are feeling pressured to abort their baby due to tough economic conditions. Many are also pressured by others to end their pregnancies.

For some, it’s the best news they’ve ever had, and the happiest time of their lives. But for too many women, it’s the wrong news at the wrong time. Instead of an occasion for rejoicing, some women are frightened, angry, and without hope. They are teenagers whose friends and family may pressure them to have an abortion. They are college students who imagine their dreams of a bright future are gone. They are independent, career-minded women who suddenly feel their world is turned upside down. They are women who fear the emotional and mental abuse and abandonment of the person who fathered their child, but will not take responsibility for his family. They are women from all walks of life, all economic and social standings, and you may know one of them.

Real Alternatives helps pregnant and parenting women through its 1-888-LIFE AID hotline and the services provided by pregnancy support centers, social service and adoption agencies, and maternity homes, it funds throughout Pennsylvania.

Last year, Real Alternatives through its funded centers was able to assist over 18,000 women throughout Pennsylvania by providing pregnancy and parenting support from the moment of conception through 12 months after the birth of the baby.

Unfortunately, as America faces difficult economic times, in the last fiscal year our program funding was over $1 million less than it had been just three short years ago. We need to turn to you on behalf of the women and babies we serve who are in greater need than ever before. 

You can help Real Alternatives achieve its mission to assist women in crisis pregnancies by providing compassionate, practical, life-affirming alternatives to abortion. Here are some of the ways you can help:
